Thace didn't mean to catch Brodar. Thace was just throwing the nearest thing (which happened to be a Pokeball) in order to get the bat to change trajectory and not fly right into one of his companions. Because of this, Brodar thinks Thace is hilarious, and when offered a chance to be released decided to stay instead and see what fun he could find. Almost never in his Pokeball because it's more fun outside, but likes to see how well he can hide and then pop out and startle people.
They fly around on moonless nights and attack careless prey. Nothing can beat them in a battle in the dark.
